Eligibility? you will have to be very committed to the sport of judo and be a National Judo Federation which is affiliated to the International Judo Federation or part of an organisation that itself is part of the National Judo Federation i.e. a regional group. You will need the approval from your National Judo Federation to make a bid and their support to enable you to successfully stage this large championship. Naturally there will have to be a history of players from your country having already participated at the annual World Masters Judo Championships
Capability? the ability to organise and the proper infrastructure are essential. You must have had previous successful experience in organising top level judo events. As regards infrastructure you should consider international, national and local transport links to the venue, various levels and amounts of suitable accommodation, and an excellent facility of the necessary size and quality to stage a championship (minimum 6 mat areas).
How? a bid can only be made after reading the Official Bid Guidelines for the 2009 and 2010 World Masters Championships'.
This document will not be available until late September 2006. A legitimate bid involves among other requirement that you complete and return the questionnaire that is contained within this document.
Deadline? the closing date for receipt of bids will be 1 st April 2007
Decision on bids? The WMJA Board of Directors will select the successful bids from those legitimate bids presented to them in Sao Paulo, Brazil in June 2007 just before the start of the 9 th World Masters.
What about details? All you need to know and want to know will be contained within the Guidelines document!
Where do I get the Guidelines? Request a copy anytime from September 2006 onwards - it is currently only available in English.
